What was the inspiration for your wedding style?
As we had the stunning backdrop of Sydney harbour for both the ceremony and reception, we wanted to styling to be complementary to the aesthetic with a contemporary twist. We chose to keep everything in a neutral colour palette to allow the natural beauty of the venues shine.

How did you approach the planning of your wedding?
We booked all of the big things initially and then worked with our various suppliers to bring our vision to life. This evolved along the way as we worked through the details and took the advice of the experts.

What was your favourite styling element from the ceremony and reception?
We loved everything! The highlight though was the large outdoor deck area overlooking the harbour that we styled with seating areas including lounges and high bar tables.  To personalise this area we had two special touches – the first was a cleverly placed ‘Mr & Mrs’ neon sign to disguise an ugly fire escape, and the second was personalised cushions on the sofa which featured artwork of our fur-babies (our two dogs).

What advice would you give for couples planning their wedding?
It’s great to have an idea of what you would like, but also be open to suggestions made by your suppliers – they have done hundreds of similar events and know how to execute events seamlessly. Other than that just be methodical in your approach – keeping records of your suppliers, the deposits you have paid, date the balance is due etc and if you have all of this information to hand it is easy to manage. But above all, don’t let it break you – the whole experience is supposed to be fun and not stressful.
