Our Team - DE Crew

Decorative Events and Exhibitions employs 40 full-time, part -time and casual staff. The team is headed by the two Directors, Peter Fulton and Mark Magennis.  

Peter J Fulton – Creative Director Peter is one of the event industry’s most well known and respected designers and decorators. His exciting career began in the late 1980’s at the age of 15 years, as an apprentice sign writer and visual merchandiser.  In 1994 Peter joined Sydney’s premier event hire and decorating company.  His creative talent was soon recognised and he became their head stylist and decorator.  Over the next six years Peter decorated some of Sydney’s most prestigious events.  In 2001 Peter created Decorative Events (DE) a dedicated event styling and decorating company and his natural artistic talent, wealth of experience and dedication to excellence has resulted in DE becoming an event organisers decorating dream come true.

Mark Magennis – Managing Director Mark primarily known in the event industry for his role at the City of Sydney Venues and for his three years service at the Sydney’s Unique Venues Association (SUVA). Mark joined the hospitality industry in the early 1990’s after studying Hotel Management at university.  Throughout the 1990’s he worked in several five star hotels and in 1998 became the Hotel Manager of a boutique hotel in Sydney. In 2002 Mark took on the role Sales & Marketing Manager for the Sydney Town Hall and was elected onto the SUVA committee, serving as President in his final year. In late 2005 Mark graduated from the UTS Executive Certificate in Event Management and became Managing Director of DE.

Cass Thompson – Marketing & PR Manager Joining DE in April 2008, Cass studied Interior Decoration/Design and started her career in property styling, visual merchandising and retail design. She brings valuable skills in designing PR and Marketing material for magazines, brochures and websites.

Melita Bruvelis – Design Manager After studying Visual Merchandising, Melita’s career began as a Visual Merchandiser in major department stores and fashion retail. From here, she studied Event Management and went on to become Group Event Manager for a boutique hotel group where she successfully managed 5 venues. This gave her the experience to launch into the conferencing area where she worked in both the domestic and international market. Joining DE in January 2007, Melita has demonstrated her talent for styling, has was quickly promoted to Senior Stylist. She is currently studying Interior Styling and has recently been promoted to Design Manager

Tara Clark – Senior Stylist to Peter FultonTara studied Event Management at UTS before joining the industry as an Event Coordinator. In April 2007 she started in the role of Creative Assistant to DE's Creative Director, and was responsible for providing support at all levels and assisting with styling of events. Under Peter’s creative guidance her experience grew and so too did her client base resulting in a promotion to Event Stylist and more recently, Senior Stylist. 

Cleo Mitchell - Event Stylist Cleo graduated with first class honors from UTS in Industrial Design with a sub major in Fashion. Cleo started her career in retail design for a leading retail solutions company, developing display solutions for retailers. From there Cleo moved to one of Australia's largest retailers and was a part of the in-house design team. In addition to this full time position, Cleo was also working as the Creative Stylist for a boutique events company. She has a real passion and flare for designing and producing creative events, which is supported by a strong techinical design background.

Jada Bennett - Event Stylist Jada began her career in floristry, creating and styling weekly floral designs for Sydney's top 5 star hotels and major corporate identities. From here, she studied Visual Merchandising and quickly moved into editorial styling for Australia's major monthly Interiors publications. She has styled the floral covers for Notebook Magazine since their launch in 2005 and has freelanced as an interiors and garden stylist for various publications. Whilst freelancing, Jada embarked on a fulltime career in Event Design before moving into Event Management. Starting at DE in September 2009, Jada amalgamates all her passions in one - styling, events and creative design.
